Expanding Reach

‍London, UK October13th 2026 – EXA Infrastructure today announced the completion of two new high-capacity terrestrial routes, Milan-Zurich and Paris-Vienna. The routes advance EXA's strategy to run subsea and terrestrial assets as one resilient mesh across Europe and North America.

AI-Ready Capacity

Both routes complete or extend longer corridors that run through Frankfurt, adding capacity with long-term headroom for AI, cloud and content traffic. They are built on low-loss G.652.D fibre with dark fibre, spectrum and wavelength services available on both routes.

Milan-Zurich Corridor

The Milan-Zurich(335km) cable is the final section of EXA Infrastructure’s Frankfurt-Zurich-Milan-Genoa corridor (circa 1,050km). It is the first carrier-grade, low-loss G.652.D single operated cable across this Alps corridor. It delivers high-capacity, reliable connectivity between the Frankfurt and Milan data centre hubs and the Genoa subsea ecosystem, significantly improving throughput on the route. The design is highly scalable, with hundreds of fibres and modular in-line amplifier (ILA) sites that allow capacity to scale as demand grows.

Paris-Vienna Corridor

Paris-Vienna (circa 1,600km) is an essential part of a longer corridor connecting London with the Balkans and Turkey, and onwards to the Middle East. It also enables new Paris-Frankfurt and Vienna-Frankfurt corridors on a platform engineered for long-term growth and supports transatlantic traffic from Western Europe into Frankfurt.

"AI and cloud traffic has out grown the idea that diversity means a backup path," said Steve Roberts, Head of Strategic Investments and Product Management EXA Infrastructure. "Customers want a choice of routes they can design around resilience, latency and capacity requirements. With Milan-Zurich we have completed a corridor that gives Frankfurt, Milan and Genoa the high-capacity connectivity they need, and with Paris-Vienna we have strengthened the route from London to the Balkans, Turkey and the Middle East. Both are built to meet the demand our customers are planning for and extend our low-loss G.652.D footprint across Europe."

Recent Network Expansion

The announcements follows the launch of EXA Infrastructure’s Bilbao-Barcelona route and the unveiling of EXA Meridian, the company's ninth transatlantic cable system, which will be ready for service in 2029.

Frequently asked questions

Who is EXA Infrastructure?

We own and operate 180,000 route km of fibre and duct across 31 countries, with nine transatlantic cable systems connecting Europe and North America. Backed by I Squared Capital, and run as a pure-play infrastructure company, independent of any hyperscaler or cloud.

What does EXA Infrastructure sell?

Dark Fibre, Spectrum, Wavelengths and Ethernet on routes we own, a Managed Fibre Network (MFN) where we run the network on your behalf, colocation at cable landing stations and amplifier sites, and technical services from design and build to full network outsourcing.

Where does the network reach?

Across Europe and the Atlantic: terrestrial routes from the Nordics to the Mediterranean and the Balkans, nine transatlantic systems into North America, and corridors extending east toward the Caucasus.

Who does EXA Infrastructure serve?

Hyperscalers, NeoClouds and content platforms, carriers and service providers, financial markets, and governments and critical infrastructure operators: organisations that want the physical layer on their own terms.

How do you buy from EXA Infrastructure?

Long-term IRUs to hold capacity outright, flexible leases without the long commitment, or fully managed services. The model is yours to pick; the network is the same either way.
